🧠 How Does S.T.E.W.A.R.D. Tutor Work?

Understanding AI helps you use it better. Here's how your tutor works.

👁️ How S.T.E.W.A.R.D. Tutor Reads Your Messages

When you type a message, S.T.E.W.A.R.D. Tutor reads the words — but not like you do. It looks at patterns in the words, similar to how a search engine works. It doesn't "understand" your feelings or experiences the way your teacher does.

📊 How It Tracks Your Progress

S.T.E.W.A.R.D. Tutor keeps a scoreboard for each skill you practice. When you get problems right, the score goes up. When you miss some, the score goes down. It uses that scoreboard to pick what you should practice next — harder problems when you're ready, easier ones when you need more help.

🔬 AI Doesn't Learn Like You Do

S.T.E.W.A.R.D. Tutor doesn't learn the way you learn. It can't have ideas or figure things out. But it DOES track patterns: if you keep getting fraction problems wrong, it notices and gives you more practice on fractions. It follows rules that people (researchers and teachers) wrote.

💬 Why S.T.E.W.A.R.D. Tutor Won't Give You the Answer

We built S.T.E.W.A.R.D. Tutor to ask questions instead of giving answers. Why? Because scientists studied over 1,000 students and found that kids who used AI to get answers did WORSE on tests — 17% worse! But kids who got questions and hints did just as well as kids who never used AI. So the questions aren't to be annoying — they're to help you actually learn.

🌍 AI Is a Tool — You're the Thinker

AI is in lots of things you use: video recommendations, spell-check, and now tutoring. AI can be helpful, but it can also make mistakes. That's why your teacher reviews the AI's work, and why YOU should always think about whether the AI's hints make sense to you. You're the one doing the learning — S.T.E.W.A.R.D. Tutor is just a tool.
